AN AUTHENTIC ROUTE FOR THE
JOHN MUIR TRAIL MAP

OBJECTIVE:    The Foundation has FINISHED research of the JMT’s construction from 1915 to 1938 with state-of-the-art digital technologies, and now has a more authentic map of the John Muir Trail!!

We have finished analyzing historical maps of the JMT from its authorization by California law in 1915 to its completion in 1938 and have integrated the best geo-spatial information available today in order to locate a more authentic and accurate route for the JMT. Stay tuned! We will post the map on our web site soon. It will show the route that best combines historical authenticity with current environmental and managerial concerns. Thank you to our donors and a grant from the Sierra Club Foundation for helping us get this done!!
