EARTH ISLAND INSTITUTE

The John Muir Trail Foundation is a fiscally-sponsored project (FSP) at Earth Island Institute which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports our environmental conservation efforts. EII helps us manage the accounting and finances, federal and state tax compliance and other administrative functions, so we can focus directly on restoring and conserving the John Muir Trail. Your donations will be received and processed by EII and then sent directly to us. All donors will receive a receipt in a form accepted by the IRS for the full extent of your donation. EII has operated for over 25 years managing environmental projects like ours with distinction and has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities.

PRIVACY

The John Muir Trail Foundation uses industry standard methods to protect any personal information (name, address, phone number and email address) you may share with us in the course of making a donation, signing up as a volunteer or registering for electronic communications. If you choose to make an online donation, your credit card information will be collected, encrypted and transferred to our secure server in order to process the transaction. By submitting your payment, you authorize us to charge your account for the amount specified in the Transaction Amount field. We do not store or otherwise retain your credit card information, unless you have selected that option or have a recurring donation. The SafeSave Merchant Account and Payment Gateway handles the customer information and transaction processing through credit card processing networks. The SafeSave Payment Gateway and card storage vault has the highest certification of PCI DSS compliance (Level 1). Account information for Recurring Pledges/Monthly Giving is encrypted and stored securely via SafeSave™ for automatic processing of your future payments. Notify us at anytime if you wish to discontinue your pledge. Your personal information will not be shared with any other organization or entity. The Foundation reserves the right to alter these terms at its discretion.
